Date for your diary! String Quartet Concert for Cameron, 15 May

The Zelkova String Quartet Concert in aid of the Cameron Grant Memorial Trust

Please join us for a free concert at the Church of St Mary & St Bartholomew, Hampton-in-Arden on Sunday 15 May 2016 at 3pm. We hope you will enjoy this rare opportunity to hear the wonderful range of sounds that a professional string quartet can make, in the lovely acoustic of our village church.

The Zelkova Quartet

The Zelkova Quartet

The Zelkova Quartet is: Caroline & Edward Pether (violin), Alex Mitchell (viola) & Jonathan Pether (cello), and the programme they will play is:

  • Haydn String Quartet in D, Op. 64 No. 5, “The Lark”
  • Debussy String Quartet in G minor, Op. 10
  • Gershwin, ‘Love Walked In’

Children are welcome. Tea & cakes will be served after the concert which will last about an hour.

For Jonathan, Caroline and Edward it is a real pleasure to come and perform in their home village, and to help raise money for the Cameron Grant Memorial Trust. While admission to the concert is free to all, we do encourage donations to support the Trust online at the Zelkova Quartet page at Total Giving, or direct to the Pether or Grant families.

We are delighted, and honoured, that the Zelkova Quartet will perform in the village in memory of Cameron. The Quartet formed in 2010 at the Royal Northern College of Music, and has performed widely across the UK since. The Quartet was invited to contribute to the Royal Overseas League programme at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has also performed on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune.

We remember how much Cameron used to enjoy his music lessons with Jan Pether in Fentham Road, and so this is an especially appropriate and touching way to raise money for the Memorial Trust which is working to raise awareness of difficulties in young mental health, and to encourage all who are suffering in silence to speak up and ask for help.

We look forward to seeing as many people as possible in the Church on 15 May. There are no tickets or reservations; please just turn up to hear the wonderful sound of the Zelkova Quartet.
