Mweka Gate & departure from Kilimanjaro National Park

After coming down from the peak of Kili on 13 August, we made our way to High Camp for the night, and then headed down to Mweka Gate on Sunday, 14 August.

Mweka Gate is at 1,653m (5,423 feet), while Uhuru Peak is at 5,895m (19,341 feet), so that makes 4,242m (13,921 feet) of descent in about 29 hours – a long way down! After a welcome Kilimanjaro beer at the gate we returned to the hotel for a late lunch, some more beer, a long shower and a bit of a rest.

An unforgettable adventure; very many thanks to all who took part, and to all who have donated.

We climbed Kili as Team Cam to remember Cameron, to raise awareness of the scourge of young suicide and to highlight the importance of good mental wellbeing for all. You can support us by donating at www.totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/kili-for-cam
