Night Walk: Thanks to All!
Very many thanks to all who took part in the Night Walk, and to all who helped make it possible. The weather smiled upon us & everyone seemed to have a great time. Carol & I certainly loved it, and we’d like to do it again next year close to the time of Cameron’s birthday on 10 October.
We have heard the distance was about right, especially as it allowed families to take part together, and the timing seemed to work well. What do you think about the distance? Is Friday the best night to do this? Should we use the same route, or choose another local route? Please let us know what you think by emailing us at info@camgrant.org.uk. Please also send us any photos of the Night Walk that you would like to share.
Around 140 people took part and have already raised over £2,500 together; a magnificent amount! We know that many are still collecting sponsorship and we’d be grateful if you would complete this in October. You can donate sponsorship at the Night Walk Total Giving page or you can send a cheque made payable to Lillie Johnson Charitable Trust, along  with any sponsorship forms, to Evan & Carol at the address in the attached letter.
Our thanks to Co-operative Food in Meriden and Morrisons Solihull who contributed to the St Swithin’s refreshments, and to the “goody bag” at the end. Thanks also to Graham Hollway and InkTree Printers in Birmingham for their support with flyers, letters, maps and waterproof arrows, and to The White Lion for an excellent welcome after the walk. Special thanks to Simon Thomas and Duncan Ballard who helped us conceive and organise the Night Walk, to Yvonne Jones and Frances George, to all marshals, and to all the others, too numerous to mention, without whom it could not have happened.
The main purpose of the Night Walk was to raise awareness, and I’ve attached a copy of the letter that we included in the “goody bag” with links to further information. If you would like to take part in the Mental Health First Aid and Suicide Awareness training which we will organise in Hampton-in-Arden, please please email us and let us know why you would like to be involved. Our goal is to prove our community approach in Hampton, and then to repeat it in as many other communities as we can.
We will send a further newsletter with links to a collection of photos from Friday night in the next week or two.
Very many thanks, Evan & Carol Grant
PS Someone left a Hi Vis jacket behind after the Night Walk; if you have mislaid one, please get in touch.
